Terry A. Clyburn graduated with a B.S. in biology from The University of Houston in Houston, Texas before earning his M.D. from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed a general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Clyburn is licensed to practice in the state of Texas and is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

His academic appointments with the University of Texas Health Science Center include an assistant professorship, as well as the Director of Total Joint Research and the Medical Director of Research.

Dr. Clyburn's hospital affiliations include Memorial Hermann Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Methodist Hospital and St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital.
