Barry Nelms attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He then earned his
M.D. from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After performing a rotating internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, he completed the
residency program at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospital and was awarded fellowship to study spine surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Nelms is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is licensed to practice
in the state of Texas. Dr. Nelms is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
His current hospital affiliations include: Foundation Surgical Hospital, The Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Twelve
Oaks Hospital, V.A. Medical Center, Ben Taub General Hospital, and River Oaks Outpatient Surgery Center.
Dr. Nelms has professional memberships with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Harris
