B. Christoph Meyer graduated from Cornell University with a degree in economics before earning his M.D. at Columbia University College of
Physicians and Surgeons. While in medical school, he received the Dean’s NIH Fellowship for Medical Student Research and The Warner-Lambert Fellowship for Medical
Study in Taiwan. He completed a residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center/ New York Orthopedic Hospital, where he also
completed a post-doctoral fellowship in orthopedic biochemistry. He continued his medical training with a spine fellowship at the Kenton D. Leatherman Spine
Program in Louisville, Kentucky, where he focused on scoliosis and adult and pediatric spinal deformities. Dr. Meyer joined the faculty at the University of
Texas before beginning a solo practice limited to surgery of the spine. He maintains his academic affiliation with UT, and continues to teach residents and fellows.
Dr. Meyer promotes conservative care for the treatment of most spine problems, and continues to have interest in deformity and in complex
revision surgery of the neck and low back. He has contributed to developing new techniques and instrumentation for minimally invasive fusions and was among the
first surgeons in Houston to perform lumbar disc replacements. Dr. Meyer teaches introductory and advanced courses in kyphoplasty, both in the U.S. and
internationally, and serves as an advisor to several companies.
Dr. Meyer serves as President of the Texas Spine Society, 2006-2007, and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the North American Spine Society, the American Bureau for Medical Advancement in China, the Texas Medical
Association, the Texas Orthopaedic Association, and the Harris County Medical Society. Dr. Meyer is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
