Henry J. Blum, President of Greater Houston Orthopaedic Specialists, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas before earning his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Following completion of his orthopedic surgical residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Blum elected to pursue a Fellowship in arthritis and joint replacement at the University of Texas Medical School in Dallas, which involved an additional year of subspecialty training.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Blum is active with numerous professional medical organizations including the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Orthopedic Society.

As a published author and respected speaker in the field of orthopedic surgery, Dr. Blum also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School. In addition, he is Chairman of the Foundation Surgical Hospital Governing Board and served as the Orthopedic Section Chair of Memorial Southwest Hospital from 1993-1996.

Dr. Blum has orthopedic practices in Houston and Sugar Land where his specialty focus is on arthroscopic joint replacement of the knee and hip.
